From 1st April 2020 all prescriptions will be sent electronically to your nominated Pharmacy. You will no longer need to visit the surgery to collect a paper prescription. This makes the prescribing and dispensing process more efficient and convenient.
If you have not yet nominated a pharmacy to receive your electronic prescription it is not too late. Please let the receptionists know which pharmacy you would like to nominate.
For patients that have not nominated a pharmacy; you will be given a printed token you can take to a pharmacy of your choice, they will be able to download your prescription using a unique barcode on the token. The barcode enables the surgery and pharmacy to track the prescription and to check its status. Printed tokens do not require a doctor’s signature.
There is no change to the procedure for ordering or processing a repeat prescription. If your pharmacy is responsible for ordering your prescription they will continue to do so.
Please allow 2 working days in full (48hrs) for your prescription to be processed, 3 days (72 hours) for an acute request.
